In this edition of Angel Watchers I am featuring "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" starring the enigmatic Asa Butterfield as Bruno. "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" was released in 2008 and was directed by Mark Herman. It is based on the novel of the same name by Irish writer John Boyne. The haunting and beautiful soundtrack of the film was composed by Howard Shore. "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" is a drama about the Holocaust. The film explores the horrors of a World War II extermination camp as seen through the eyes of two eight-year old boys. One of them is Bruno (Asa Butterfield) the son of the camp's Nazi commandant, and the other is Shmuel (Jack Scanlon) a Jewish inmate of the concentration camp. I have to admit that "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" affected me deeply. I watched it for the first time last night, and I am still weeping as I write this post, because its ending just devastated me emotionally. The conclusion of "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" is so tragic and powerful, that I feel that it has been etched permanently on my soul. Safe journeys to all the fans of Angel Watchers, wherever you may be.
